The problem with Iceland is that we have the two and half hour drive back!

Yeah serendipity saw us in Enniskillen before then and the shops we easy to go round, come 1pm, when we were still shopping, I was cursing the people in front of us in Asda and Tesco!

Now, you say you live in Enniskillen, do you know any Rileys or Ellimans?

I live in Enniskillen. If you are you should also check out Iceland as its by far the best for frozen foods.

I also advise that you write down what you need before traveling and do a price comparison between Asda and Tesco. They are in competition and are always under-cutting each other. For example, weekend before last Spirits were all at £10 per litre bottle in Asda. Last weekend they were £15 in Asda but £20 for 2 in Tesco.

If you want to avoid the worst of the crowds go up during the week, time yourself to be in Enniskillen before 11am.

Anyone who isn't a politician or banker (with seemingly unlimited amounts of income) uses the cheapest place to shop, so I don't care if you are supporting the Irish or the British currency quite frankly. I shop where it is cheaper, why shouldn't you? We have a similar, albeit smaller scale, situation here. If I travel to Inverurie (40 minute drive) I can pay well over the odds for the same goods in Fraserburgh. Fraserburgh (known affectionately as The Broch - heavy on the phlegm on the 'ch' sound) is a bit rough. Inverurie on the other hand is quite affluent. The prices reflect this.

I was wondering why you bout 20x tubes of pringles until I saw the bottom..

Those prices and savings are absolutely mental. If I was you I'd be doing the exact same thing. Those tesco prices seem cheaper than anything we have here in Sheffield, but our nearest Tesco is a 20minute walk away so its not really an option so we have to go Sainsburys Basic's range all the way!
I can't wait for Aldi to open across the road in 2010!

thats a great saving I still think asda is cheaper than tescos anyway I do my main shop online at asda and then top up at tescos just to save a little cash in these days of credit crunches as tescos say every little helps :)

If we lived closer I would do it every month as well, but it is a 5 hour journey each way for me and really not worth it. x

When I was back in the UK last month I couldn't believe the food prices and special offers. I guess there's a lot more competition and price wars.

That saving is just based on those five items. We spent approximately £500 so imagine how much we actually saved.

We didn't have shown our passports but we weren't sure so we took them with us just in case. We didn't actually know we'd gone over the border until we saw the police station!

Petrol cost us around €15.

That really is some savings! And I too have ample supplies of pringles due to them being a pound a tube here! And no need to buy vodka as I got 4 bottles for my birthday that I am still to get through!
