Nanny 911

"Nanny 911" is an American television programme shown on TV3 over here
in the Emerald Isle.

The opening has a typical big booming American voice giving an intro
about the show...

"Staffed by nannies from all over the world..." he says.

Nanny Oldandwrinkly is in charge and is from England.

Nanny Strictandstern weighs in at 22stone and is from Scunthorpe.

Nanny Goat is in her seventies and from Surrey.

Finally Nanny Spankskidsgently was previously employed as nanny to
Jesus and comes from the North... of England!

So the producers went all over the world look for Nannies and got four
old trouts from the UK. Why bother saying they are from around the
world? Why not just say they are from the UK?

What is more disturbing is that none of them are anything like my
childhood nannies.. I do miss Nanny Ghetto and Nanny Nytol. Life was
much simpler then.

I love that phrase 'an old trout' ...hehehehehehe..and I would be mortified as a parent to be on that show. It only shows the whole world how horrible you are at raising children.

  Some of the parents are quite good and just have awful kids but then again some parents, as you say, are horrible.

  My first nanny (Nanny Ghetto - or rather "Nenny" as she would tell us to call her) wasn't English and was awful but Nanny Nytol who was very British and modeled herself on Mary Poppins was from England so you much be right!

When I was that there was a show called Nanny 911, I imagined hijacked nannies being flown into tall buildings.

I also heard that there were plans to air the programme in the UK but decided against it, as most children are spaced out on valium for their ACDC (or whatever) to be entertaining enough.

Nanny 911 is no longer in production, but a similar series on another network, Supernanny, is still going on. Supernanny has just one nanny, Jo Frost, who is also from England.

The nannies were spoofed in an episode of South Park, in which Eric Cartman succeeds in driving away, in succession, both Nanny Stella (Nanny 911) and Nanny Jo (Supernanny), before being brought under control by Cesar Millan (The Dog Whisperer).

And in this episode, the head nanny from Nanny 911 was protrayed as a Skexis from the movie Dark Crystal:

  Yeah we've had Supernanny in the UK for ages but for some reason they only show the American version in Ireland.

    I heard there was a British version of the show... As for her being wrong, I can't comment. I'm the one who, when watching a show like that, will suggest tranquilizers and an electric cattle prod as a solution to what's wrong with the kids.
