Introducing...
@ 2008-03-31 – 10:58:50
Ladies and gentleman may I take this moment to introduce to
an exa good friend of mine...Filmextra (or Pete as he's know to me) comes to blog all the way from Cheshire. Now I need to you to really make him welcome as he's currently blogging on a Xanga site... and it's crap. And I've told him so. He needs the community of this place.
He's a great guy who's had an interesting life and will have many stories to tell. Usually about reuniting the Spice Girls (yeeeearsss before Moyles did) and filming the Congleton Flower Thief in action!
He's been around on BCUK for a while... in fact his account has been inactive for around 900 days but he came over in the days the original Landers/Paddy was about.
So say hello to him, make him feel welcome him to your friends list (apart from you Juz - you leave him alone! Pete knows too much about me for your to me concerned with!) and general just enjoy - as many others have

The kindness of friends
@ 2008-03-30 – 16:34:47
When I got together with Brad I made a whole new circle of friends. People who, should Brad and I ever split up (which will not happen), I will always keep in contact with.
One of them was Cal. She is one of the kindest women I have ever met. She has raised an intensely wonderful daughter who Brad and I are very close.
Cal is miraculous women with a heart of gold. A wonderful mother, grand-mother and absolutely superb friend to me, Brad and everyone around her.
It would appear she also has a memory like a elephant!
The other day a parcel arrived for me. It felt like a video. Brad rang and told me the writing looked like Cal's or Becca's (Cal's daughter). I instantly thought it was a blank video from Bec so I could do her a copy of my thirtieth birthday video as well as a copy of the night her and Russel came to Wales and she got very drunk, taped to a chair, scared shitless and drank a cocktail that tasted like flowers.
It wasn't. It was an audio book. A set of tapes of the book Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. My absolutle favourite film ever!
I know Cal reads so thought I'd a little post to say thank you.

Suggestions and help please.
@ 2008-03-29 – 22:05:47
Gentle reader, I'm in the process of making a web site for the Bloscars.
This will be important for the 2009 Bloscars - you'll see why when it's done - and I'm look for suggestions.
What would you want to see on the site?
I'm doing a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page so what questions should be there? What do you think people want to know about the Bloscars? What do you want to know about the Bloscars!
So far I've got a welcome page, a faq, a history, 2006 winners, 2007 winners and 2008 winners and a page describing the each actual award (not a page per award!).
What else should I have?
Let me know either in PM's or comments here.

Stand-up Roller Coasters.
@ 2008-03-27 – 21:02:31
Pointless and boring. I am watching a programme about the ultimate ten thrill rides and the people are talking about how on a "stand-up" roller coaster... you stand up! As the human body is used to being in a seated position when travelling then its huge thrill to be stood up - erm I get no thrill from escalators!*
Anyone who has ever been on a "stand-up" roller coasters will know just as well as I do that you do not stand up on a stand up roller coaster! There is a saddle and a massive chuffing harness. Let alone the fact that my knees are always bent and my feet firmly on the floor! - And I'm not that tall!
Things like this piss me off! It's crap! It's not right! So why do they get away with saying these things! Imagine you've never been on one and you watch this programme. You find out that a roller coaster called "The Riddler's Revenge" is the biggest stand-up roller coaster in the world and it's somewhere in the US. You decide it would be your dream to go on it so you save and save and save until one day you have enough money to fly off to the US of A, pay your money to get in to the park and head for the ride! You queue for four years and laugh at the signs tell you you're 1t5 minutes from your ride. After clearing up your camping equipment at the last turn you're finally at the ride and as you get on to your horror you see the one thing you weren't expecting - a seat!
How angry would you be? I'd be demanding my money back! Actually I'd be spouting off about demanding my money but walking round the rest off the park, queuing for more rides that are going to either leave me with back ache or soaked clothing because I thought I could dodge the tsunami from the log flume and never actually collecting my dosh or telling a manager that it was in fact crap!
Thankfully I have always found that it isn't the rides that make days at these place fun, it's the people you go with.
*I actually get a little un-nerved by them! Apparently, according to an optician, I have a psychology disorder with my eyes which means when I look down from a great height I get a blind-spot and I cannot see the bottom. I also get this on stairs when it's my first time coming down them. Apparently I have issues with not knowing where the bottom is! This has never caused me any problems, I was 19 when it was diagnosed and it's not something I ever thing about. Sometimes I wonder if "professionals" make things up to charge me more money!

Tum-te-tum...
@ 2008-03-24 – 10:10:48
I have been up since 7am.
Not early for some of you I know but for me, on a day off, I should at least be in bed until 8.30am!
I woke up around 6-ish, stayed in bed, trying to to get back to sleep until 7ish then finally got up. Decided not to shower as I want a nice long bath later, so just stuck some joggers and tee on and have sat in front of the telly since then, drinking coffee and wondering not only why I'm awake but what I can do today.
I think I'm quite happy just to sit and relax for a bit.
I've actually spent the morning watching Dawson's Creek! I was never a big fan of it when it was first aired but I used to watch it if I was doing nothing else and re-watching now... ten years after it first aired... is actually quite scary. I forgot how attractive Joshua Jackson and Kerr Smith were.
Right, I really should go and do something. No idea what but something at least!
See ya later x

Sunday
@ 2008-03-23 – 15:14:31
Have had a lovely meal with the Duggan's and the Nolan's.
Sadly Brad couldn't be with us as he's just a little hung over. He went out with his work friends last night and I joined them for a drink towards the end of the evening. We finally got home around 2am and after lying in all of the bed for ten minutes he decided he wanted to be sick so spent a little while in the bathroom heaving his drinks up!
Listening to him vomit wasn't great as I was feeling a tad iffy after some dodgy salmon earlier in the evening.
So now, after stuffing out on a gorgeous lamb dinner and lovely little easter cake made by Helen & Rachel I'm sat watching the end of the Man. U v Liverpool game. Lee isn't too happy, as you'd expect being from the 'Pool but I couldn't give a fuck personally! Two nice goals in quick succession though! Very nice! Alex Ferguson needs new glasses!
Right, I still have some css to mess with it would appear so until then....

Harsh Conclusions
@ 2008-03-21 – 23:44:02
Having spent most of the evening trawling through web-sites trying to learn CSS so I can make my lovely blog even lovelier I have come to realise the following:
1. I know more HTML than I give myself credit for.
2. I don't read everything but skim it to find the things I want - thus missing most of the important stuff.
3. I actually understand how CSS works.
4. I cannot (and probably will never) understand how to do what I want to do in CSS.Therefore I am going to
give upgo to the library on my day off and get a book that will tell me all I need to know about CSS. Either than or I shall spend the next few weeks begging those in the know to let me in the secret world that is cascading style sheets.Having messed about with the blog design all I managed to do was make my left and right columns appear at either side of the screen and then make me centre column and header image completely disappear! While trying to rectify it the most I could do was make every single blog entry appear as one single line straight down the page.
I will agree with those who said that building a page using CSS is easy. I'm sure it is. So is quantum physics if you have that level of knowledge and understanding in those fields. I lack both in both but I can bake a nice cake, make my own biscuits and reverse a 7.5 tonne truck up a dirt road.
For now I will bow to the superior intellect of my peers who are able to split the atom, leap tall buildings, turn lead into gold and produce cascading style sheets but I warn you, all of you, my day will come. No longer will the knowledge of the not-so-ancient be hidden from me, it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine!

Would you believe it?
@ 2008-03-21 – 19:20:45
I think I've finally found a blog design I'm happy with.
I need to tweak it here and there and over the weekend, when not drinking in the town or lunching with the Duggans, I shall be teaching myself CSS. Something that everyone assures me is really simple yet I've never actually got round to doing. White chatting with the Chuckmeitser last night though I kinda said I'd try over the weekend. Thankfully I didn't promise as he's had enough broken promises off me... and on that note I've just remembered that I still have software to post to him! Goddamnit! I will get that done before he moves!
Hopefully with the CSS I'll be able to make things a little different but I have to say I'm quite liking the look of this one so far.
Fingers crossed and all that!

I appear to be having eye problems.
For the last two days my right eye has been aching. On Friday it only ached if I rubbed it. Come last night it ached still but again, only if I rubbed it although the ache had got worse. My vision also seemed to go strange last night as well, whereby it really felt like my one eye was trying to focus.
So today the ache had been there all day but now it's there without needing to rub it. It's not a sharp pain but a like a dull ache but it's there and it's fucking annoying.

a good reason.

Blogging Meme Tooken from GilraenH
@ 2008-03-09 – 20:27:42
I did tooken it from GilraenH
1. Latest blog friend? Why?
Batsman or rather Batman as I thought it said when he sent me the invite. He's a great guy who left BCUK and thankfully come back.2. Oldest blog friend? Why?
LyndLJ. Hmm... why? Well one of us started reading the others blog and then one of us invited the other - I forget who did what - and since then she's become someone I'm very close to and someone I love very much.3. Groups. Good, bad, annoying?
Right. I'm all for groups. In fact I started one of my own today. I'm just worried about BCUK becoming a social networking site. Thankfully I've been assured it won't and I trust those who told me so I shall stop worrying which makes my answer and this diatribe a bit pointless. In short - Groups are good.4. Who do you miss the most from your blogfriends that have left BCUK?
There is more than just one. Charlie, Helly, Nathan (and Little Nate), Fatal, FilmFan. I'm sure there are loads of others.5. Who out of your blog friends that have since left do you not really miss?
Dunno. I don't miss them so I don't care about them enough to remember them.6. Would you want to meet the bloggers who are your blog friends in real life?
I've met some of them but there are so many more I'd love to meet. I do worry though that I might not like them when I meet them. So far it hasn't happened but you never know. If any of you lot want to meet me feel free to come over!7. Blog friend or blogger that you wished posted more often? MoodyMarshall. She's a great lass and it's damn hysterical and knows everything there is to know about music.
8. What is the most annoying thing about using BCUK?
The fact that I've become addicted.9. Are you a Pro? Why/Why not?
I'm not but I was. I couldn't afford to renew it but I've just won a bloscar so will become Pro as my prize! Huzzah!10. Do you think blogging has improved your life?
Hmm... I don't know. I'd like to say yes but I don't want that to mean that there was something missing in my life before blogging. My life was great before hand but blogging became a very welcome addition. The friends I've made through BCUK have enhanced my life as it's always good to have friends ain't it! -

Birthdays, Work and Schtuff
@ 2008-03-09 – 11:50:59
Again I apologise for not blogging. I actually tried to yesterday morning but with the rain beating down so damn hard the 3G broadband thingy wouldn't work. Well, it was working but it was sooooo slow! Nothing would load up, e-mail took forever, blah blah blah, so in the end I gave up and did all the ironing.
So first things first.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICK!x
Sorry it's late! At least the card was early!
So last weekend and the early part of the week my blogging was stopped by my gorgeous sister visiting.
As you can see, even though it was her first visit to us she knew how to dress appropriately!

She sent me a text on Friday to say the flight was an hour late. I checked on-line for the new arrival time and according to that it was due in twenty minutes early. I e-mailed Brad to see he could find anything but everything he found said it was on time. A bit later I go an e-mail from him telling me the flight had just left so I dash out the door to go and meet her. At the airport the arrivals board said she'd be in at 19:05!
"Can I help you?" asked the woman behind the information desk.
"Yes, what time is the flight from Birmingham due in?" I asked.
"Any minute now."
"It's just that the board says..."
"Yes, I know, it's faulty, it'll be in any minute now!"And sure enough as I got upstairs to see her land she was just getting off!
We spent her time here visiting places, catching up, baking, doing stuff which mainly involved visiting cemetery's and crumbling monastery's.

Tuesday came and it was time for her to leave (with a quick visit to another cemetery and monastery on the way to the airport. We got to the airport early so Rach bought me lunch.

Heaven!

I was in work from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Wednesday. My second day which was fun. Tony, my line manager, gave me my shifts for the next week. 8am to 9pm Thursday and Friday, Saturday & Sunday off, 8am to 9pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday!
Huzzah! I are working! Blinking wonderful!
So as I'm working long hours, which I don't mind, it means I'm shattered when I come home but it also means I only work 6 days out of 14! I'm loving the job. They're great people to work with and I hope to make some good friends there. Once I'm in the flow of work I'll start blogging more often.
-
Apologies...

I was a bit tired. Still trying to get over Rach's visit!

Batman, it's good to have you back. The world will be a safer place!
